University of Miskolc Delegation Visits North-West University in South Africa

Between 8 and 15 June 2025, a delegation from the University of Miskolc visited North-West University (NWU) in South Africa. The visit marked an important step toward strengthening international academic cooperation and building long-term partnerships between the two institutions.

The delegation from the University of Miskolc included Prof. Dr. Mariann Somosi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; Dr. Szabolcs Nagy, Deputy Dean for International Affairs; Tamás Bakó, ProSkill Project Manager; and several faculty members from the university.

During the visit to Potchefstroom, the central campus of North-West University, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between the two universities. North-West University was represented by Prof. Jeffrey Mphahlele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NWU. The agreement establishes a framework for future collaboration, with a particular focus on talent management as a key area of joint interest.

The cooperation builds on the University of Miskolc’s experience with the ProSkill project, which focuses on developing and supporting student talent and skills. As an important milestone in this collaboration, Tamás Bakó previously introduced the ProSkill project to faculty members at North-West University during a presentation in 2024.

Following the signing of the MoU, representatives of both universities began working on a detailed plan to guide their long-term cooperation. The partnership is expected to foster knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and the development of innovative approaches to talent management in higher education.
